LeWalt Publishing - Guitar, 5-String Banjo and Mandolin Instruction - Harold Streeter

Travis Picking Selections

Welcome to our Travis Picking Guitar page. If you'd rather not scan through all of our listings to search for a favorite song title, you can do a quick search just by pressing Ctrl-F on your keyboard and typing in a word or two of the song title in the box which will appear.

Meanwhile, please read through the following info about our listings...

We Offer Tabs in Two Formats...

We offer tabs in TablEdit format, and in what we call "LeWalt" format. All tabs on the web site are available in TablEdit, while LeWalt tabs are available only for arrangements that have been recorded.

How to tell which is TablEdit and which is LeWalt in the listings...

"TablEdit only" in the "Tab Format and CD Demo Availability" column next to the tab price column on the right, means the selection is available in TablEdit format only.

"TablEdit or LeWalt - CD Available" in that column means the selection is available in both TablEdit and LeWalt formats, and that a CD demonstration recording is also available.

Hard Copy and Email Tabs...

When you purchase tabs in TablEdit format via PayPal, they are emailed to you as attachments the same day your order is received. To open such attachments, it's necessary to download TablEdit's free tab viewer to your computer, if you haven't already done so.

If you don’t have TablEdit on your computer, just click here for download info.

LeWalt tabs, on the other hand, are available in hard copy form only and cannot be emailed. Orders received for LeWalt tabs are shipped to your postal address.

TablEdit vs LeWalt Tabs...

There are a few differences between the two formats, in terms of characteristics and advantages.

TablEdit tabs: If you're not familiar with TablEdit, it is a software program and learning tool that enables you to see tabs on your computer screen and print them out, using a variety of fonts and type faces. You can also hear them played back in MIDI format at any tempo you wish, just by pressing the space bar on your keyboard. That means CD demos are not necessary for timing reference, and because TablEdit tabs are emailed, there are no shipping charges.

To learn more about TablEdit's many other features, click here.

LeWalt Tabs: The LeWalt tab format is unique in that it features a timing display that is easier to read than that of "standard" tab. Also, all left-hand fingering and sustain information, plus necessary right-hand information is included for every tab. TablEdit is able to provide some of this information, but not all of it. In addition, reference recordings are available on CD and in .mp3 format. This means you get to hear real instruments demonstrating the songs you order, rather than MIDI playbacks.

Free MIDI Tab Samples...

To hear a MIDI sample of any selection in the following listings, click on the order number shown at the left of the selection. Although the samples are derived from TablEdit arrangements, they also serve as samples of LeWalt tab arrangements. Just like the tab arrangements themselves, with very few exceptions, the samples do not include guitar and bass accompaniment modules because by definition, Travis picking guitar arrangements are complete arrangements and are not in need of accompaniment. The samples usually consist of the first 8 to 20 measures, depending on tab length, but are occasionally taken from other sections of the tabs that are more representative of song identity.

.mp3 Samples of CD Demonstrations - for LeWalt format...

To help you determine presentation and sound quality of our CD demos, we've assembled a sampling of 30 - 40 second .mp3's from the listings on this page for listening. There are only 30 of them, but they are of real instruments. Just click here, and then click on any of the 30 titles you'd like to hear.

Hard Copy Tab Samples...

If you'd like to order a hard copy sample tab to be mailed to your postal address, just choose any single tab from the following listings and mail your choice along with $3.50 to cover shipping and handling, to: LeWalt Publishing, 4930 E Horsehaven Ave, Post Falls, Idaho 83854 U.S.A. Included with your sample tab will be a booklet of technique and practice tips, which also\ includes sections on how to read and get the most out of tablature.

Song Descriptions and Histories...

If you've visited our site before, you may notice that most of the listings now include additional info in the song descriptions. Sometimes, such information is readily available and sometimes it's not. The reason for its inclusion is I believe that on some level, knowing as much as possible about a song's origin and history in terms of when it was written and/or recorded, and by whom, helps us perform it better. Of course, I may be wrong on this; maybe it's just a story I tell myself, and in reality it doesn't help much at all, but I think it does.

Ordering Tabs and CDs...

To order tabs and CDs from the following listing, please click on the "How to Order" link at the top of this page and read through all of the ordering info, including how to make purchases by check or money order (you'll find a handy ready-to-print order form link), or how to make purchases online through PayPal, depending on your preference.

Please note that tablature prices do not include the cost of CD recordings and that when purchasing recordings, the minimum order is 3 songs (see How to Order). Also, as our listings consist primarily of instrumental arrangements, lyrics are not included.
